A day in the life of Dora - our Sydney based Shih Tzu X who is the Boss Mutt, Top Dog and Pack Leader here at MUTTS4US! In true dog speak, of course! Read her blog here...
In my blog earlier this month I demonstrated that us canines are superior to humans in many ways, particularly when we compared the dancing skills of Gin the Dog against the vocal talents of Robert "The Chicken Factory" Man et al.
Strangely, I've been asked by some MUTTS4US members to show Robert's encore performance at the "X Factor" finals. Gluttons for punishment I reckon.
Then again, it really does affirm the conclusion I made back then about humans.
So (very) reluctantly, here is Robert performing his "version" of the Bee Gee's song "Tragedy"....
Be sure to check out the pecking chickens on the screen at the back of the stage, and don't say you weren't warned..
While Robbo has clearly acquired some nifty dance moves along the way (particularly when he belts out the title), I didn't see him moonwalking backwards on one hand, did you?
Thankfully, Cowell gave him a deserved standing ovation. The echo was certainly there this time....
For those of you who have read my previous posts, you would already know that my perception of human talents and skills - unfortunately using my dear old Dad as a benchmark - isn't exactly high.
Nevertheless, I was willing to challenge my opinion, so sneakily used up some of Dad's wireless bandwidth on his laptop (while he was at work and well before Granny arrived for her daily Dora Minding duties) to do some research (in an objective way) to figure out whether humans or canines are the most talented?
It didn't take me long to find a talented dog.
Dancing dog Gin, along with owner Shropshire teenager Kate Nicholas, were recently just pipped at the post for the top prize of Britain’s Got Talent, which is similar to American Idol.
Gin won a standing ovation from the audience and the judges after moonwalking backwards, jumping over Kate’s pole, weaving between her legs and dancing around her.
Their original performance, with Gin "canine freestyling", is here:
Nice to see nasty Simon Cowell smiling for a change.
Their finals performance, which had judge Piers Morgan saying Gin was "laying down the mark to the humans” and even cranky Cowell declaring that Kate and Gin’s performance was “totally unique”, is here:
Congratulations Gin and Kate! Go girls!
Now perhaps I was being just a little bit selective in my search for a talented human example, but not that long after being entertained by Gin, I came across Robert auditioning for X Factor (the UK clone of American Idol)........
I have seen Dad do a spectacularly ordinary rendition of "My Way", but I doubt even he has the "skills" to match Robert belting out "I'm a Barbie Girl". Hi Barbie, Hi Ken..
In case you didn't quite catch it during the video, Robert works at the Chicken Factory.
I reckon Robert is a legend, but he reminds me of early American Idol reject William "She Bang" Hung, with the bonus of being a Northerner and perhaps a Mandrax supplement thrown in for good measure. Despite Cowell being in his usual form, you have to hand it to Rob - he really did wind Simon up.
Interestingly, Robert was invited back to the finals where he performed a great falsetto rendition of "Tragedy" to a background video of pecking chickens. Bless.
Speaking of young William, he makes a guest appearance in this "Best Of" compilation ...
Enough said. I think I answered my own question. So endeth the lesson.

PS:
1) I will be in the doghouse when Dad gets his Bigpond wireless bill :)
2) Robert has allegedly landed a contract with Walker's Crisps in UK since his audition (seriously)...we expect either promoting, eating or counting the ridges on chicken chips (or maybe a combination of all three).
I'm unsure whether Mattel has made a counter offer yet for Rob to promote Ken and Barbie, time will tell......
3) William Hung was offered a $25,000 record deal in 2005, and released three albums in 2004 and 2005 (mostly covers of pop and rock songs, including "She Bang").
