Dora is the inspiration for Mutts4Us!
We adopted her from a rescue home when she was about three, and for the last two years she has enriched the lives of her family and friends.
Anyway, enuff from me, I'll pass over to Dora..
Q: What breed are you?
A: I am mutt and proud of it! I am a Shih Tzu/Terrier cross.
Q: What's your favourite food?
A: My Mum feeds me kibble regularly, but I actually prefer the rare roast beef my Dad gives me when I’ve been really good. I’m not allowed to sit with them at breakfast or dinner, because I tried a few times to get some of their food and gave them a bit of a guilt trip by begging and looking cute, but they wouldn’t give me any. They said they didn’t want me to grow to be a fat doggie, whatever that means. At the park, when I’m behaving myself, Mum gives me some liver and roo treats. I have some plaque on my teeth now cause I’m getting older, so I get a regular feed of bones too, and sometimes I get my teeth cleaned with a toothbrush, if I’m really stinky..
Q: Describe an average day for us?
A: I usually I wake up when Mum and Dad do, and I like to do a few stretches just to ease into the day. I then crawl up to them cause their breath in the morning smells pretty good to me, and I try to give them a kiss. That usually gets them up. Then they take me for a walk and because I'm pretty sexy, I get lots of attention. Usually they dress me up in funny clothes and sunglasses, but to be honest I prefer to go as nature intended. My Granny looks after me when Mum and Dad are at work, and I like to curl up in her lap and watch TV. She keeps talking to me like a baby which is a worry, but I know she isn't getting silly, she just loves me. Sometimes I just want to chill and go and hide under the couch or lie on the bathroom tiles when it’s hot. I might have a bit of a nap, watch TV and play some games before bedtime. Q: What’s your favourite game? A: Mum and Dad let me hang in their cars, but they aren't real keen on letting me catch some funky smells leaning out the window, but I do my best..
Q: What’s your least favorite thing? A: For some reason, my Dad likes to grab a microphone and sing when he’s watching TV sometimes. There are some words on the screen but he can’t keep in tune or time, I don't have the heart to tell him he's a lousy singer. I just have to sit there and try to act like I’m interested. Q: How do you keep fit?
A: On Mondays, my Granny takes me for a really long walk which is good for her heart. Big dogs usually like to bark at me cause I’m cute but it also causes me to run pretty fast with Granny when they start chasing me. The rest of the week I get about an hour every day - on the weekends I sometimes go for a swim at the beach and also a run through the city. Whenever I see Mum and Dad I get pretty excited and jump up and slobber on them (they don’t seem to mind) and I reckon that counts as exercise too. Q: Where do you sleep?
A: Mum and Dad let me sleep on their beds and I usually crawl under the covers when they are asleep. I snore and dribble just like them, so I fit in. Even Granny has relented, so I must be pretty clean.
